Account Preferences—Authentication
This page lets you set the Authentication preferences for your account:
- The top section of the page displays the information on the current Account
and Client.
- The center section displays the current Local Authentication
Server. You can edit this information if desired.
- The bottom section displays the current User IDs.
Add a new User ID
To add a new User ID:
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make sure
the tab is selected.
- If you have access to multiple Accounts or clients, select the desired
Account from the drop-down menu located above the tabs. (If there is only
one client available, the Account is static text, rather than a drop-down).
- Click .
You see the Add a New User ID page.
- Select the User Group from the drop-down menu.
- Enter aFirst Name and Last
Name.
- Click .
You see a page showing the new account and password.
- Write down or print the new User ID information to provide the user. Warn
them that they should immediately change their password.
- Click if you don't want to configure the
User ID. You will be taken back to the Authenticate page.
- Or click to
configure the User ID immediately.
You see the Edit User ID page.
- Make the desired changes, then click .

Edit a User ID
Follow these steps to edit a User ID:
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make sure
the tab is selected.
- If you have access to multiple Accounts or clients, select the desired

one client available, the Account is static text, rather than a drop-down).
- Click in the Action column of the desired User ID.
You see the Edit User ID page.
- Make the desired
changes, then click .

View a User ID
Follow these steps to view a User ID:
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make sure
the tab is selected.
- If you have access to multiple Accounts or clients, select the desired
Account from the drop-down menu located above the tabs. (If there is only
one client available, the Account is static text, rather than a drop-down).
- Click in the Action column of the desired
User ID.
You see the Edit User ID page.
- When you are finished,
click .

This section lets you view and edit the Local Authentication Server.
This section lets you add, view,
and edit User IDs configured for authentication
to ProQuest. You can also edit a user group.
Click the up-pointing arrow (
)
next to a column header to sort the User IDs in ascending order, based
on that column. For example, click the up-pointing arrow next to User
Name to view the IDs sorted alphabetically by user name.
Click the down-pointing arrow (
)
next to a column header to sort the User IDs in descending order, based
on that column. For example, click the down-pointing arrow next to User
Name to view the IDs sorted in reverse alphabetical order by user
name.
