Editing User IDs

Use this screen to edit the User preferences. Click Done to return to the Account Preferences, Authentication page. You can:

Edit User Preferences

To edit the preferences for a User ID, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
  1. Locate the User ID you want to edit.
  2. Click View/Edit after the desired User ID.
    You see the Edit User ID page.
  3. You can:
  4. When you have made the desired changes, click Done.

Change User Password

To change the user password, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
  1. Locate the User ID you want to edit.
  2. Click View/Edit after the desired User ID.
    You see the Edit User ID page.
  3. Enter the desired password in the New Password field.
  4. Re-enter the desired password in the Confirm New Password field.
  5. Click Save.

IP Ranges for Automatic Login to ProQuest

  1. Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
  1. Locate the User ID you want to edit.
  2. Click View/Edit after the desired User ID.
    You see the Edit User ID page.
  3. Click IP Ranges for Automatic Login to ProQuest in the jump list, or scroll down to the IP Ranges for Automatic Login to ProQuest section.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. You see the Edit IP Range page.
  6. To add a new IP range:
    1. In the Add New IP Range section, enter the starting IP address in the Starting IP fields.
    2. Enter the ending IP address in the Ending IP fields. (If you are entering a single IP address, leave these boxes blank.)
    3. Click Add.
  7. To modify a current IP range:
    1. In the Current IP Ranges section, locate the IP range you want to edit.
    2. Modify the beginning IP address and ending IP addresses.
    3. Click Update.
  8. To delete a current IP range:
    1. In the Current IP Ranges section, locate the IP range you want to delete.
    2. Click Delete.

Remote Access

You can configure your server to permit remote users, such as library customers connecting from home, to access ProQuest through your server. These settings ensure that your ProQuest links are protected from unauthorized use.

Remote Access Using Referring URL

To enable remote access to ProQuest:

  1. Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
  1. Locate the User ID you want to edit.
  2. Click View/Edit after the desired User ID.
    You see the Edit User ID page.
  3. Click Remote Authentication in the jump list, or scroll down to the Remote Authentication section.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. You see the Edit Remote Access Settings page.
  6. Under Choose a Remote Access Method, select one of the available remote access methods:
  7. Click Continue.
    The page you see will depend on the validation method you selected.
  8. Enter the validation information, then click Save.
  9. If desired, click the Login Page Preferences (optional) tab and enter the settings desired for the login page. Click Save.
  10. Click Done to return to the Account Preferences, Authentication page.
