Editing User IDs
Use this screen to edit the User preferences. Click to
return to the Account Preferences, Authentication page.
You can:
Edit User Preferences
To edit the preferences for a User ID, follow these steps:
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make sure the tab is selected.
- Locate
the User ID you want to edit.
- Click after the desired User
ID.
You see the Edit User ID page.

- When you have made the desired changes, click .

Change User Password
To change the user password, follow these steps:
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make sure
the tab is selected.
- Locate the User ID you want to edit.
- Click after the desired User ID.
You see the Edit User ID page.
- Enter the desired password in the New Password field.
- Re-enter the desired password in the Confirm New Password field.
- Click .

IP Ranges for Automatic Login to
ProQuest
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make
sure the tab is selected.
- Locate the User ID you want to edit.
- Click after the desired User ID.
You see the Edit User ID page.
- Click in
the jump list, or scroll down to the IP Ranges for Automatic Login to
ProQuest section.
- Click .
- You see the Edit IP Range page.
- To add a new IP range:
- In the Add New IP Range section, enter the starting
IP address in the Starting IP fields.
- Enter the ending IP address in the Ending IP fields.
(If you are entering a single IP address, leave these boxes blank.)
- Click .
- To modify a current IP range:
- In the Current IP Ranges section, locate the IP range you want to
edit.
- Modify the beginning IP address and ending IP addresses.
- Click .
- To delete a current IP range:
- In the Current IP Ranges section, locate the IP range you want to
delete.

Remote Access
You can configure your server to permit remote users, such as library customers
connecting from home, to access ProQuest through your server. These settings
ensure that your ProQuest links are protected from unauthorized use.
Remote Access Using Referring URL
To enable remote access to ProQuest:
- Make sure you are on the Account Preferences, Authentication page:
- Click the tab, and make sure
the tab is selected.
- Locate the User ID you want to edit.
- Click after the desired User ID.
You see the Edit User ID page.
- Click in
the jump list, or scroll down to the Remote Authentication section.
- Click .
- You see the Edit Remote Access
Settings page.
- Under Choose a Remote Access Method, select one of the available remote
access methods:
- Barcode Validation / Pattern Matching
This remote access method validates the patron barcode on the basis of
correct length, prefix and checkdigit calculation.
- Remote User ID/Barcode Lookup - with password
This remote access method validates the patron by looking up the barcode.
Barcodes can be uploaded in batch or individually edited.
- Remote User ID/Barcode Lookup - no password
This remote access method validates the patron by looking up the barcode.
Barcodes can be uploaded in batch or individually edited.
- Click .
The page you see will depend on the validation method you selected.
- Enter the validation information, then click .
- If desired, click the tab and enter
the settings desired for the login page. Click .
- Click to return to the Account
Preferences, Authentication page.
