Account Preferences—Edit IP Range

ProQuest lets you limit access to your ProQuest site by entering a range of IP addresses. Only computers with IP addresses within this range will be permitted to access your site. IP address restriction is a good security option for local access.

For security purposes, ProQuest does not allow any overlap in IP addresses entered system wide. For this reason, it's a good idea to be as specific as possible when entering IP ranges, and you may want to only enter specific IP addresses when possible.

If you receive an error message when trying to enter an IP range or address, there is probably a conflict with another ID or another account. Contact Customer Support for more help.

To restrict access to an IP range, follow these steps:

  1. First, make sure you are on the Edit IP Range page:
  1. To add a new IP range:
    1. In the Add New IP Range section, enter the starting IP address in the Starting IP fields.
    2. Enter the ending IP address in the Ending IP fields. (If you are entering a single IP address, leave these boxes blank.)
    3. Click Add.
  2. To modify a current IP range:
    1. In the Current IP Ranges section, locate the IP range you want to edit.
    2. Modify the beginning IP address and ending IP addresses.
    3. Click Update.
  3. To delete a current IP range:
    1. In the Current IP Ranges section, locate the IP range you want to delete.
    2. Click Delete.
  4. When you are finished with your changes, click Done to return to the Account Preferences, Authentication page.
