Account Preferences—Edit User ID

Use this screen to edit your preferences for how this User ID is authenticated to ProQuest. On this page you can:

Make the desired changes, then click Done when you are finished to return to the Account Preferences, Authentication page.

Disable User ID

Click Disable to temporarily suspend use of a User ID.

Activate User ID

Click Activate to activate a suspended User ID.

Remove User ID

Click Remove to suspend and hide this User ID.

Change User Password

To change the user's password, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the desired password in the New Password box.
    The password must be 12 characters or fewer long.
  2. Re-enter the desired password in the Confirm New Password box.
  3. Click Save.

You will see a message confirming that the password has been changed.

Modify IP Ranges for Automatic Login to ProQuest

ProQuest lets you limit access to your ProQuest site by entering a range of IP addresses. Only computers with IP addresses within this range will be permitted to access your site. IP address restriction is a good security option for local access. This option is only available if IP range authentication has been implemented. If not, you will see a message telling you to notify ProQuest Customer Support.

To restrict access to an IP range (this applies only to this ID or user and not the whole client. For security reasons you are only able to apply a specific IP address (s) to one ID or user):

  1. Click Edit.
    You see the Edit IP Ranges page.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. When you are finished, click Done to return to the Authenticate page.

Modify Remote Access

You can configure your server to permit remote users, such as library customers connecting from home, to access ProQuest through your server. These settings ensure that your ProQuest links are protected from unauthorized use.

  1. Click Edit to modify or add Remote Access to the ID.
    You see the Edit Remote Access Settings page.
  2. Under Choose a Remote Access Method, select one of the available remote access methods:
  3. Click Continue.
    The page you will see depends on the Remote Access Method you selected:
    Barcode Validation/Pattern Matching
    Remote User ID/Barcode Lookup with Password
    Remote User ID/Barcode Lookup no Password

Barcode Validation/Pattern Matching

You see the Edit Remote Access Settings: Barcode Validation/Pattern Matching page. Continue as follows:

  1. Select the desired Checkdigit Method.
  2. Select the exact length of your library card number (up to a maximum of 50 characters) from the Barcode Length drop-down box.
  3. Select the length of your library card prefix (up to a maximum of 10 characters) from the Prefix Length drop-down box.
    This setting is used to skip the prefix in the checkdigit calculation for DRA type barcodes
  4. In the Barcode Prefixes boxes, enter up to 10 library card prefixes. If you need additional prefixes, it is recommend that you enable remote access on more than one ProQuest User ID.
  5. Click the Login Page Preferences (optional) tab. Confirm that you want to save your settings.
    You see the Login Page Preferences page.
  6. Enter the Description Text, Logo URL, Login Screen Prompt, and Password Prompt.
  7. Click Save.

Remote User ID/Barcode Lookup - with password

You see the Edit Remote Access Settings: Remote User ID/Barcode Lookup-with Password page. Continue as follows:

  1. In the Add a New Remote User ID section, enter the User ID.
  2. Enter the user password
  3. Click Add.

Repeat for each user.

OR

To upload a text file of User ID/Password pairs:

  1. In the Upload Remote User Record File section, click Browse and navigate to the appropriate file.
  2. Select Append to Current List to add the new user information to the end of the current information.
  3. Select Overwrite Current List to replace the current information with the information you are uploading. All your current information will be deleted.
  4. Click Upload.

Checkdigit Method

Both the Dynix and DRA checkdigit calculations are based on MOD10 checkdigit calculations.

Barcode Prefixes

Enter up to 10 library card prefixes. If you need additional prefixes, it is recommend that you enable remote access on more than one ProQuest User ID.

Login Page Preferences

This section lets you set options for the user. You can set:
