About PubMed LinkOut

LinkOut is a service of PubMed that lets you link directly from PubMed to other sources of information. This makes it easy to access relevant full text articles and other online resources. See http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/linkout/ for more information.

ProQuest helps you quickly and easily provide information to PubMed about your library's full text resources at ProQuest. Then, when your patrons search for articles at PubMed, they can link directly to the full text at ProQuest.

Before Using LinkOut

Before you can use LinkOut, you must register with the National Library of Medicine and create a PubMed LinkOut account. If you don't already have an account, you can find information on the registration process at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/bv.fcgi?rid=helplinkout.section.lib.Library_Registration.

You will need your Library username and Provider ID number to enable the PubMed LinkOut feature in ProQuest.

How LinkOut Works at ProQuest

When you provide your Library username and Provider ID number, we create a list of the full text articles available in your ProQuest subscription. We will deliver this list to your PubMed account, and automatically update it each week.

PubMed uses this list to provide links to the full text of those articles. When your patrons view a citation/abstract in PubMed that is available in full text through ProQuest, they will see a ProQuest link. When they click this link, they will be taken to the full text article.
